Hi. I’m Molly M. McCarthy (she/her), MA, LMHCA, therapist and founder of Altitude Mental Health.
I help individuals age 11+ ease suffering and become their fullest selves. I specialize in working with individuals who have a history of chronic illness, medical trauma, or who are neurodivergent in a world with neurotypical expectations. I also work with a wide range of people, including those who live with anxiety, depression, PTSD, C-PTSD, and more.
I believe that healing happens in relationship, and I take time to get to know my clients deeply. I am not judgemental; I believe everyone’s behavior makes sense when you understand their past and current challenges.
I work from a psychodynamic perspective, helping you tune in to the unconscious patterns and feelings that underlie your conscious behavior. If you are looking to go beyond a “quick fix,” I may be the right therapist for you.
For individuals with trauma, I am also EMDR trained and we can explore how EMDR and other somatic therapies might work for you.
I am neurodiversity-affirming and I love working with folks who are LGBTQIA+ (I’m trans-affirming, too!). I take a weight neutral/health at every size (HAES) approach. I am an antiracist who works constantly to understand and undo my privilege as a white woman. My work is informed by lived experience with chronic illness, disability, and neurodivergence.
I have a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University New England with a certificate in treating trauma, and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Seattle University. Before graduate school, I spent several decades in executive positions in nonprofit and academic marketing.
Starting in July, I have openings including evenings and weekends. I see folks online and at Generative Healing Arts in the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle.
